All-University Women's Council Policy
ALL UNIVERSITY WOMEN'S COUNCIL
ACADEMIC SENATE POLICY S93-186
At its meeting of May 11, 1993, the Academic Senate approved the following policy to establish an All-University Women's Council:
The All University Women's Council of San Francisco State University will support women administrators, faculty, staff, and students and enhance the quality of University Life for women through advocacy, mentorship, education and career development and opportunity. The All University Women's Council will strive to create and promote communication networks among all campuses of the CSU through membership and liaison with the Women's Council of the California State University system.
To create mechanisms to encourage education, career development and opportunities in Higher Education through mentoring opportunities, educational events and advocacy.
To plan and execute programs and sponsor events that enhance the quality of university life for women administrators, faculty, staff and students.
To participate in activities of the Women's Council of the California State University.
PROPOSED MEMBERSHIP FOR STEERING COMMITTEE
Two members elected by the Academic Senate, one of whom must be a lecturer.
Two members elected by Staff Council.
Two members elected by Associated Students.
One member appointed by the Academic Affirmative Action Committee
One member appointed by the Staff Administrative Affirmative Action Committee
One member appointed by the Rape Education and Prevention Committee.
One member appointed by the Department of Women Studies.
One member appointed by the Executive Committee of the Academic Senate.
Two administrators appointed by the President.
Two members appointed by the SFSU Labor Council.
Terms of Office:
Each member is elected or appointed for a two-year term. Terms will be staggered. One half of the terms expire each year. Procedures for determining initial terms of office will be decided at the first meeting of the Steering Committee.
Election of Chair(s):
Chair(s) of the Steering Committee will be elected at the initial meeting.
