ACADEMIC SENATE RESOLUTION

RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF DARLENE YEE-MELICHAR'S

 

NOMINATION FOR FACULTY TRUSTEE

 

 

 

Whereas,       the Governor of California appoints a Faculty Trustee from nominees proposed by the Academic Senate of the California State University (CSU); and

 

 

 

Whereas,       the Board of Trustees of the California State University develop broad administrative policy, oversee the management of funds, property, facilities and investments, and communicates the current and future needs of the 23 campuses to the Governor and Legislature; and

 

 

 

Whereas,       Dr. Darlene Yee-Melichar, Professor and Coordinator of Gerontology at San Francisco State University (SF State), has submitted materials for nomination for Faculty Trustee; and

 

 

 

Whereas,       Dr. Yee-Melichar is a distinguished faculty colleague with 21 years of service to San Francisco State University; and 

 

 

 

Whereas,       Dr. Yee-Melichar has been recognized for outstanding teaching by the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education, the California Chapter of the American College of Health Care Administrators, and San Francisco State University; and

 

 

 

Whereas,       during her time at San Francisco State University Dr. Yee-Melichar has amassed a distinguished record of scholarship serving as the principle investigator on 24 grant projects, publishing extensively in her discipline as well as in higher education administration and assessment, and conducting more than 90 presentations and lectures; and

 

 

 

Whereas,       Dr. Yee-Melichar has an unparalleled commitment to serving San Francisco State University (where she earned SF State’s Inaugural Award for Distinguished Service and has served as a long-time member of the Academic Senate Executive Committee, Chair of the Curriculum Review and Approval Committee, Chair of the Graduate Council, Coordinator of the Annual Student Research Competition, Co-Interim Director of the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, etc.) and the California State University System (where she has served as the Chair of the Academic Senate CSU's Academic Affairs and Fiscal and Governmental Affairs Committees, as a member of the Academic Senate CSU Executive Committee, Chair of the Doctorate of Education Advisory Committee, Chair of the Ed.D. Faculty Consultation Group, as a member of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Search Committee and others); therefore, be it

 

 

 

Resolved,      that the Academic Senate of San Francisco State University, commends Dr. Darlene Yee-Melichar for her willingness to represent California State University faculty on the Board of Trustees; and be it further

 

Resolved,      that the Academic Senate of San Francisco State University endorses Dr. Darlene Yee-Melichar's application for the position of Faculty Trustee; and be it further

 

Resolved       that the Academic Senate of San Francisco State University encourages the  Academic Senate CSU and the Governor of California to select Dr. Darlene Yee-Melichar as the next Faculty Trustee of the California State University.
