RESOLUTION REGARDING

THE EARTHQUAKE IN MAHARASHTRA, INDIA

At its meeting of Tuesday, October 12, 1993, the Academic Senate approved by general consent the following resolution regarding the earthquake in Maharashtra, India:

WHEREAS

A devastating earthquake has brought death and desolation and long-term suffering and need to our neighbors in Maharashtra, India; and

WHEREAS

San Francisco State University is itself in a city and region that has experienced the cruelty of nature and the consolation of human concern and assistance; and

WHEREAS

San Francisco State University is a community of human beings representing an extraordinary diversity and harmony of races, ethnicities, nationalities, religions, cultures, and ways of life; and

WHEREAS

San Francisco State University understands that Maharashtra indeed is our neighbor in humankind's global village; therefore be it

RESOLVED

That the Academic Senate of San Francisco State University join the Associated Students, the Staff Council, and the University administration in urging all members of the University community to contribute to San Francisco State University's INDIA EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUND.
