In Support of Urging Governor Brown to Appoint CSU Faculty Trustee

Whereas: 
The CSU Faculty Trustee represents the faculty in discussions that inform the actions of the CSU Board of Trustees, and is an important part of effective shared governance in the California State University (CSU) system; and
Whereas: 
The Academic Senate CSU (ASCSU) forwarded two nominees for CSU Faculty Trustee to Governor Brown on March 21, 2013; and
Whereas: 
Governor Brown has yet to appoint a CSU Faculty Trustee, leaving systemwide faculty without a valid representative and voice on the CSU Board of Trustees; therefore be it
Resolved: 
That the Academic Senate of San Francisco State University (SF State) affirm the significance of a California State University (CSU) Faculty Trustee to systemwide shared governance; and be it further
Resolved: 
That the Academic Senate of SF State urges Governor Brown, per his statutory responsibility, to appoint a CSU Faculty Trustee expeditiously to participate in the next CSU Board of Trustees meeting on November 5-6, 2013; and be it further
Resolved: 
That this resolution be distributed to Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr., Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom, CSU Chancellor Timothy P. White and the remaining members of the CSU Board of Trustees, campus presidents, Academic Senate CSU, campus senates, the California Faculty Association, and the California State Student Association.
