The awards, given annually since 2019, highlight exceptional staff accomplishments. The honorees (listed below) receive a $4,000 stipend for Excellence in Service award.

Excellence in Service (Staff)
Phonita Yuen has dedicated her life’s work to San Francisco State. She attended and graduated from SF State. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business then went on to earn a MA in Adult Education then later a MA Early Childhood Education. Her commitment to the SF State community is exemplary having now worked at the university for over 30 years! Phonita spent over 20 years in the College of Education and is currently the Fiscal and Administrative Analyst for the Metro College Success Program in the College of Ethnic Studies. Phonita consistently gives 110% to everything she does. She cares deeply about students, staff, faculty, and administrators and is deeply respected and admired throughout the campus for her incredible work ethic.
