The awards, given annually since 2019, highlight exceptional staff accomplishments. The honorees (listed below) receive a $4,000 stipend for Excellence in Service award.

Excellence in Service (Staff)
Ms. Anarose Flores Schelstrate has served SF State for nearly three decades and is the operational heart of the Department of Equity, Leadership Studies, and Instructional Technologies. As Academic Office Coordinator and the department’s sole full-time staff member, she provides essential continuity, institutional knowledge, and administrative leadership across graduate, credential, and certificate programs. She supports students from admission through graduation, coordinates hiring, scheduling, enrollment, budgets, and department operations, and regularly assists other units during staffing shortages. Her leadership of the Step to College dual-enrollment program has expanded access to higher education for thousands of first-generation and historically underrepresented Bay Area students. She is also a respected campus leader who mentors staff, serves on Staff Council and university committees, and is known for her reliability, compassion, professionalism, and commitment to student success.
