Chair Colvin Announced:
§
SFSU will hold commencement ceremonies on
Saturday, May 27, 2006 12:15 p.m. in Cox Stadium
§
A lecture on “Einstein on Race and Racism” will
be held on Wednesday, February 22 at 2:00 p.m. in Jack Adams Hall, CCSC. The event is co-sponsored by the College of
Science and Engineering and College of Ethnic Studies.
§
A campus response to a CSU system-wide survey on
General Education will be compiled on Wednesday, February 23 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00
in the Collaboratory, Burk Hall 229.
§
The campus is making steady progress on the
External Review of Baccalaureate Degree Requirements.
§
A revision to the campus master plan is under
way and a Web site describing the process is now on-line at http://SFSUmasterplan.org
§
CFA President Linda Ellis announced a
informational session on the current status of bargaining to be held on Wednesday,
February 22 at 12:00 p.m. in the Rosa
Parks Rm, CCSC. Lunch will be available
§
Senator Ritter announced the establishment of 4
unisex restrooms on campus in order to better address the needs of gender queer
students, faculty, and staff.

UPDATE
Chair Colvin introduced VP Morishita who provided the Senate with an
overview of the proposed CSU budget for 2006-07 as outlined in the Governor's
January Budget.

Chair Colvin introduced
Dean Whitaker and Director Lao who introduced the newly formed Confucius Institute
to the Senate.

Trevor Getz was elected
by acclimation to serve on the All-University Committee on International
Programs and Ricardo Gomes was elected by acclimation to serve on the
All-University Enrollment Management Committee.

DISCUSSION ITEM FROM THE FACULTY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE: INTRODUCTION TO REVISING
SFSU RETENTION, TENURE, and PROMOTIONS POLICIES
FAC Chair Velez
introduced the Senate to the process that is being utilized to discuss the
current RTP policies and possible revisions.
Discussion ensued. The discussion
item will continue to be on the Academic Senate agenda throughout the Spring
2006 semester.
