being present, the meeting was called to order.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Senators made announcements.

AGENDA ITEM #1—Approval of the
Minutes for October 19, 2010

The Minutes
were approved.

AGENDA ITEM #2—Approval of the Agenda for November 2, 2010

Senator Vaughn motioned to
include a Resolution in Honor of the World Champion San Francisco Giants on the
agenda. The motion carried. The Agenda was approved as amended.

AGENDA ITEM #3—
California Budget Projections and the Fiscal Implications
on San Francisco State University, Executive VP of Finance and Administration,
Leroy Morishita and Associate Director of Government Relations, Derek Aitken

The Academic Senate heard
a presentation by VP Morishita and Associate Director Derek Aitken on the California Budget Projections
and the Fiscal Implications on San Francisco State University.

AGENDA ITEM #4—Recommendation from the Academic Policy Committee: Proposed Course Syllabus Policy, 2nd
Reading

Senator Getz moved and explained
the Recommendation and revisions made. Senator Stowers motioned to amend the
item. The motion carried. The vote was called. The Recommendation was
approved.

AGENDA ITEM #5—Recommendation from the Academic Policy
Committee: Proposed Revisions to
the Written English Proficiency Policy, 2nd Reading

Senator Getz moved and explained
the Recommendation and revisions made. Senator Trautman motioned to amend the
item. The motion failed due to lack of a Second. Senator Sherwin motioned to
amend the item. The motion carried. The vote was called. The Recommendation was
approved.

AGENDA ITEM #6—Recommendation from the Curriculum Review and
Approval Committee: Proposal to
Revise the Advanced Placement Option in Nursing Program, 1st Reading

Senator Stowers moved and
explained the Recommendation. The item was discussed. Senator Salama motioned
to move the item to Second Reading. The motion carried. The vote was called.
The Recommendation was approved.

AGENDA ITEM #7—Recommendation from the Curriculum Review and
Approval Committee: Proposal to
Rescind Academic Senate Policy #S82-89, Entry Level Skills & Remedial
Courses, 1st Reading

The item was entered as a
Consent Item. The vote was called. Senator Stowers entered an objection. The
item entered in First Reading and was discussed. The item will return before
the Academic Senate in Second Reading.

AGENDA ITEM #8—Recommendation from the Academic Policies Committee: Proposed Revisions to the Committee
Structure for Baccalaureate Degree Requirements, 1st Reading

Senator Getz moved and
explained the Recommendation. The item was discussed and will return before the
Academic Senate in Second Reading.

ACTION ITEM #9—The
Academic Senate Adopted the Resolution in Honor of the World Champion San
Francisco Giants

The Resolution was moved
by Senator Vaughn. The senator deferred to Chair Whalen for an explanation and
reading of the Resolution. The item was discussed. The Resolution was approved
by acclamation.
