The assignment of faculty to teach graduate level courses; to serve as committee members on theses, creative works, field projects, or graduate examinations; and/or to assume other designated roles in the graduate programs of the university, is to be made by the department offering the graduate program in accordance with its own established criteria. These assignments are normally expected to be made from the permanent faculty. In special circumstances, a Department Chair may assign a qualified temporary faculty member to serve in the graduate program. When such an assignment is made, the Department Chair is expected to inform the College Dean and the Dean of Graduate Studies of the name of the individual and the primary basis of selection.
