Resolution to Temporarily Suspend
Changes in
General Education Curriculum
WHEREAS, San Francisco State University is in the midst
of a major review of its
baccalaureate graduation requirements by the Graduation
Requirements Task Force (GRTF), including general education, and the timeline
is for the GRTF to submit its report by spring 2009; and
WHEREAS, The General Education requirements and curriculum
could change
substantially as a result of the GRTF’s recommendations; and
WHEREAS, Departments and faculty could put in extensive
work on proposals that would no longer be in effect if the new General Education
recommendations are adopted; therefore be it
RESOLVED, By the Academic Senate of San Francisco State University
that with the exception of submissions of complete proposals made prior to
October 15, 2008, no changes be made to the General Education curriculum until
after the GRTF report has been acted upon by the Senate; and be it further
RESOLVED, That from October 15, 2008
until implementation of the new Baccalaureate degree requirements, the General
Education Council be charged with reviewing the complete proposals submitted
prior to October 15, 2008, and further with providing feedback to the GRTF
regarding the draft of proposed changes to the GE requirements/curriculum.
