RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION AND SUPPORT OF
WORLD AIDS DAY - DECEMBER 4, 1990

At its meeting of November 27, 1990, the Academic Senate approved the following resolution in recognition and support of World AIDS Day:
WHEREAS |
AIDS, a health issue of world-wide concern, represents an unprecedented threat to global health; and |
WHEREAS |
SFSU is located in a city that has been significantly impacted by the AIDS epidemic; and |
WHEREAS |
Many students, faculty and staff in the SFSU community have been directly touched by AIDS and will continue to feel the effects of the epidemic; and |
WHEREAS |
The goal of the SFSU AIDS Coordinating Committee is to provide a comprehensive program emphasizing prevention and awareness, as well as services for those with HIV infection; and |
WHEREAS |
The purpose of World AIDS Day is to provide an annual day of observance to expand and strengthen through knowledge and action the spirit of solidarity, compassion, and understanding for people with HIV; and |
WHEREAS |
The purpose of World AIDS Day 1990 is to focus attention on the impact of AIDS on women's lives as well as on the world-wide effort to stop AIDS; therefore be it |
RESOLVED |
That the Academic Senate strongly support SFSU's commemoration of World AIDS Day on December 4, 1990; and be it further |
RESOLVED |
That the Academic Senate join in World AIDS Day activities on campus and encourage the University community to do so likewise. |
