Resolution Regarding the Impact of Budget Reductions on Lecturers
RESOLUTION REGARDING THE IMPACT OF BUDGET REDUCTIONS
ON LECTURERS
RS91-90
At its meeting of April 30, 1991, the Academic Senate approved the following resolution regarding the impact of budget reductions on lecturers:
WHEREAS |
The current California budget crisis is of heretofore unknown severity and magnitude; and |
WHEREAS |
The governor's budget would necessitate implementation of crippling cuts in allocations to the CSU; and |
WHEREAS |
The implementation of those budget reductions holds the real potential to cause irreparable harm to students and to the entire University system; and |
WHEREAS |
University lecturers are uniquely vulnerable to widespread elimination; and |
WHEREAS |
The contributions made by CSU lecturers in fulfilling the University's mission are substantial and the role of the lecturer is inextricably intertwined with achievement of the University's goals; and |
WHEREAS |
The loss of those lecturer contributions would have great negative effect on the SFSU community; therefore be it |
RESOLVED |
That the San Francisco State University Academic Senate reaffirm its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the curriculum by recognizing the significant role of lecturers and by minimizing cuts in academic programs; and be it further |
RESOLVED |
That this Resolution be forwarded to the President, the Vice Presidents, the Deans, the members of the University Budget Committee and the Chair of the CSU Academic Senate. |
