ANNOUNCEMENTS
- (Holzman) Golden Gate National recreation area will be on campus Wednesday December 5th to discuss with faculty and staff from 10 AM – 2 PM to present internship opportunities.
- (Hanley) CSU Academic Senate is seeking faculty trustee nominees. Materials must be received by January 11, 2013; to be reviewed on January 15, 2013. Full senate will select two nominees on March 14-15, 2013 meeting. Criteria and qualifications listed on website within Campus Memo and on the Calstate.edu website under “what’s new?”
- (Hanley) Please read the email regarding the proposal to amend and add “academic freedom” to the CSU faculty constitution

- A PowerPoint presentation guided the discussion on this item.
- Prohibit the purchase of nonqualified service or “airtime”
- Forfeit pension benefits if convicted of a felony
- Prohibit retroactive pension increases
- Equal Health Benefits for all employees
- New employees requires a 50/50 cost-sharing of pension benefits
- New employees requires a 50/50 cost-sharing of pension benefits
- New employees requires a reduced benefit of 2% at age 62 (from 55); 2.5% at age 67 (from 63)
- New employees prohibits retroactive pension benefit enhancements
- New employees compensation calculation will be defined as normal monthly regular or recurring pay, excluding bonuses, overtime, unused (vacation, sick leave, CTO), etc.

- Comments/Questions were related to: What is the impact of the reduced benefit formula?; Is summer pay included in the compensation calculation changes; How does this act impact recruitment and retention of faculty/staff?; One of the big advantages was the pension and benefits, this may require higher salaries from the campus; What are the current benefit maximum formulas?; PEPRA is for all California public employees not just the CSU with regard to recruitment; Are these changes applicable to both faculty and staff?

- Editorial Motion to amend the ‘ 4th whereas clause’ to change “BRC” to “Baccalaureate Requirements Committee” to read “Whereas BRC Baccalaureate Requirements Committee developed six baccalaureate outcomes; and”
- Editorial Motion to amend the ‘Resolved clause, line 2’ “Requirements” to read “Resolved that the Academic Senate commends the work of the Baccalaureate Requirements Committee and endorses the document “Baccalaureate Degree Outcomes.”
