ANNOUNCEMENTS
· Sen. Reyes: On Feb. 28 a Know your Rights Fair will be held from 12-5 in Jack Adams Hall presenting workshops and legal information about protecting your rights in the new political environment.
· Sen. Toporek: On March 3 from 9-10:30 Dr. Derald Wing Sue will present on Microaggression. There is limited seating. Please RSVP to the following url: http://tinyurl.com/DeraldSueSFSU
· Sen. Rosegard: On March 7 a Career Fair in Jack Adams Hall will be held. On March 9 a Recreation, Parks and Tourism Career Fair will be held in the Annex from 10-2. All students are invited.
AGENDA ITEM #1—Approval of the Minutes for February 7, 2017
· Approved as submitted.
AGENDA ITEM #2—Approval of the Agenda for February 21, 2017
· Approved with the following amendments: remove Items #8 and #10; amend Item #9 to read recommendation from the Educational Policies Committee.
AGENDA ITEM #3—Chair’s Report
· Dr. John Stern, age 62, Professor of Biology has passed away. Memorial information will be communicated.
· Campus wide elections are coming up. Please encourage colleagues to run for the Senate. All colleges and the Library have open seats at this point. Please encourage all colleagues to nominate themselves to the Administrative Search pool. All T/TT faculty are eligible.
· Channels of communication between administration and the Senate have strengthened over the years. Lines of communication need to remain open and collaborative. In this spirit the Senate has extended an open invitation to all cabinet members, administrators and ASI officers to address the Senate directly. Please contact the Senate office to schedule time in the Plenary sessions or in Ex-Comm meetings.
AGENDA ITEM #4—Provost’s Report [time certain 2:20]
· The next coffee hour will be on Friday 9:30-10:30 in LIB 121. Please RSVP to Mona in the Provost’s office.
· The enrollment census completed last Friday showed that the projected enrollment gap has been narrowed by 3.2 points so that we are now only 3.7% below target. This was accomplished by excellent collaboration across campus and specifically by adding new transfer students and making more sections available.
· Enrollment has revenue implications. Each of the colleges is now engaged in a new process of curriculum planning with the goal of having a strong plan for moving forward.
· Understands that there are concerns about possible cuts to Academic Affairs budget as a consequence of low enrollment. Rather than planning for cuts Academic Affairs is discussing how to invest wisely in order to build up enrollment and retention to build a strong base.

· Ann Sherman gave a presentation on the top 10 reasons for her recent promotion to VP of Administration and Finance.
AGENDA ITEM #6—Report on Enrollment Census—Sutee Sugitparapitaya, Senior Analyst in Academic Resources [time certain: 2:45]
· Sutee Sugitparapitaya gave a presentation on the status of enrollment at SFSU. Slides are on the Senate website.
AGENDA ITEM #7—Information Item from the Student Affairs Committee: Senate Expectations for Student Representatives
· Sen. Schwartz moves the item. Speaks to the item. The document was developed in collaboration with ASI and the Student Affairs Committee. No actions are needed.
· Sen. Gomez: Asks faculty members to make announcements in their classes about openings for students in SFSU governance.
· Sen. Mayes: What are the carrots to bring students into governance openings on campus?
AGENDA ITEM #8—Information Item from Curriculum Review and Approval Committee: Discontinuance for the B.A. in Child and Adolescent Development: Concentration in Policy, Advocacy and Systems
· This item was removed from the agenda.
AGENDA ITEM #9— Recommendation from Education Policies Council: Discontinuance for the Master of Science in Computer Science: Concentration in Software Engineering, Concentration in Computing and Business, Concentration in Computing for Life Sciences- in first reading.
· Sen. Gerber moves item. Speaks to the item.

Academic Policies Committee
· Sen. Gerber: Working on policy for standardized time blocks, a probation policy and advising policies.
Curriculum Review and Approval Committee
· Sen. Rosegard: Meeting as EPC. Working on baccalaureate requirements and an internship policy.
· CRAC is working on a Nursing curriculum change.
Faculty Affairs Committee
· Sen, Sabee: Working on a resolution for GTA stipends.
Strategic Issues Committee
· Sen. Mooney: Working a roadmap for budget transparency.
Student Affairs Committee
· Sen. Schwartz: Working on a revision on experiential learning, a resolution regarding LGBTQ safety on campus and collaboration with Career Services.
