Resolution Commending and Thanking Outgoing Members of the 2021-22 Academic Senate

Whereas: 
RATIONALE: The Academic Senate of the California State University adopted a statement on Collegiality in the California State University that included these opening paragraphs: The smooth and effective operation of a complex multipurpose university system requires a spirit of collegiality that both reflects and fosters mutual respect among all groups within the system. Collegiality consists of a shared decision-making process and a set of attitudes, which cause individuals to regard the members of the various constituencies of the university as responsible for the success of the academic enterprise. Fundamental to this concept is the understanding that a university is a community of scholars who, out of mutual respect for the expertise and contributions of their colleagues, agree that shared decision-making in areas of recognized primary responsibility constitutes the means whereby a university best preserves its academic integrity and most effectively attains its educational mission.
Whereas: 
The success of shared decision-making at San Francisco State University is dependent upon the willingness of members of the campus community to serve in the many agencies of academic governance; and
Whereas: 
The Academic Senate is the central agency for academic governance; and
Whereas: 
The Academic Senate is a preeminent display of the deliberation, community, and collective reflection; and
Whereas: 
All members of the Academic Senate displayed exemplary resilience, strength and fortitude in a year defined by the COVID-19 pandemic; and
Resolved: 
That the Academic Senate of San Francisco State University thank and commend the following members of the University community who are completing their current terms of service: Dipendra Sinha, Marc Stein*, and Genie Stowers, at-large members of the Senate; and Tom Thomas and Ryan Smith (Spring 22) and Geoff Desa (Fall 21) representing the Lam Family College of Business; and Ali Borjian representing the Graduate College of Education; and Mai-Nhung Le* representing the College of Ethnic Studies; and Rick Harvey*, Carrie Holschuh*, and Emiko Takagi* representing the College of Health and Social Sciences; and Violet Ballard representing the Graduate College of Education; and Teddy Albiniak, Jace Allen, Marc Dollinger, Marie Drennan*, and Yutian Wong representing the College of Liberal and Creative Arts; and David Hellman* and Melissa Seeyle representing the Library; and Hao Jiang, Karina Nelson, Alexandra Piryatinska*, Rachel Small, Jonathon Stillman representing the College of Science and Engineering; and Arlene Daus-Magbual, Gilberto Ramirez, and Alaric Trousdale* representing Student Affairs and Enrollment Management; and Karen Nelson Villanueva representing the College of Extended Learning; and Jenny Tu* representing University Enterprises; and Darlene Yee-Melichar*, San Francisco State University representative to the Academic Senate of the CSU; and Alex Hwu representing the Deans Council; and Presidential Appointees Katie Lynch*, Michael Scott*, Lori Beth Way*, and Dwayne Banks*; and Joshua Ochoa, Dae Philpot, and Jennifer Valencia representing Associated Students. *Indicates Senator reelected for a second term

that the Academic Senate thank Senators Robert K Collins, Nancy C Gerber, and Darlene Yee-Melichar for service as an Academic CSU liaisons to the Executive Committee; and be it further

that the Academic Senate thank Senator Gilda Bloom for service as an At-Large member of the Executive Committee; and be it further

that the Academic Senate thank Senator Brian Beatty for service as an At-Large member of the Executive Committee; and be it further

that the Academic Senate express gratitude and a special thanks to Senator Teddy Albiniak for his exceptional service, outstanding leadership, and unwavering commitment to the Academic Senate and the body it represents as Academic Senate Chair.
